Window treatments are something many of us don?t give much thought to, but we should. Not only do they add a lot of architectural interest to a room, explore any design magazine and take a closer look, but they also serve an important function. They protect your floors and furnishings from fading, and give you added privacy. Who needs nosy neighbors looking into your home?
That?s exactly why we carry an inventory of curtains, draperies, blinds, shades and shutters. It?s all about education, they say, and it?s a great way to protect your home.
So what can you look for in the window?
1.Banded shades. These are treatments that are a hybrid between roller shade and sheer. They?re layered, with the louvers alternating between sheer and solid bands. You control the amount of privacy and sun protection because you can open or close the fabric bands.
This is a great solution for those who like sunny, light-filled rooms, but also need to darken the area when the sun is at its highest, especially with the blazing Florida sun.
Like anything these days, they can be Alexa-integrated, so you can control them even when you aren?t home.
2.Sheers. A sheer blind, curtain or drapery can actually add a little movement to a room and, remember, all window coverings are meant to protect against the sun somehow.
For instance, you can pull a Roman shade up or down, or you can control sun and heat by controlling your shutters, even better if they?re banded ones. A curtain can be sheer, but still have enough pattern to add texture and protection.
3.Natural materials: A lot of window treatments are eco-friendly these days, and we?re seeing bamboo, jute and other natural materials. These work well in a lot of styles, whether it?s farmhouse or cottage.
4.Silks. This kind of window will never go out of style. These treatments evoke luxury and high-end design.
5.Valences. These are those fabric panels just above the window that not only look stylish, but also hide rods and mechanisms.
6.Velvet: Ooh-la-la! We?re talking glam here!
